Friend: Yeah she lost a bunch of weight doing the Insanity Carb Challenge or whatever.

Me: Oh yeah, they need to teach me how 2 cardio

Friend: Well it's literally called the insani-

Me: Unless it involves running

Friend: It's a vid-

Me: I hate running.

Me: Fuck running.

Me: God running fucking sucks. Fuck it all.

Friend: ... There's no running. Just rigorous exercise.

Me: Maybe I should do that

(Five minutes later)

Me: *Eating bag of chex mix in the bathtub and then consumes two chimichangas* Fuck running.

When I say, ‘I love you,’ it’s not because I want you or because I can’t have you. It has nothing to do with me. I love what you are, what you do, how you try. I’ve seen your kindness and your strength. I’ve seen the best and the worst of you. And I understand with perfect clarity exactly what you are. You’re a heck of a person.

It’s been two weeks since I’ve seen you and it feels like years.

I’ve never missed anyone as much as I miss you whenever you’re home.

Self Evident Truths

S. Ross Browne

Ummm…I am so VERY into this right now!

But Black people in period or fantasy settings totally makes the stories unreal.

Also holy shit I love these.

How come I don’t run across this stuff regularly?

Because of racism and the retroactive erasure of POC in Medieval Europe. Pretty much the same reason you almost never see these works of art either unless you’re already looking for them:

People being angry about ~dem gays~ on Target’s Facebook.

I just want to give my two cents on this and tell you a story.

A couple weeks ago, I was hired at Target. I have a job at Target. Not a big deal right?

It is a big deal because i’m a transman

It doesn’t take a genius to conclude that it’s hard for me, my brothers, and sisters to get a job. There are legal restraints regarding the job and if you don’t pass, it’s hard to be taken seriously at a job interview.

Right on the application, it asks what your preferred name is. It also asks if there is anything that target should know. I put the fact that I am a transman, expecting not to get a call because usually when you put that down, people will throw out the application. I got TWO interviews.

At the interview, they asked me about it. I told them I am on hormones and they told me that they didn’t care. Not in the sense that they don’t emotionally care, but that it didn’t matter. I was male and that’s all that mattered. They also told me that they give sex same couples benefits in states that do not recognize them as a married couple.

At my job orientation, I was not misgendered once. Even my supervisors who weren’t sure of my gender avoided pronoun use, which I found only happens when you’ve had pronoun training. They gave me a name tag with my preferred name and didn’t ask questions. I felt safe and respected, which is huge for a trans* person.

TLDR: Target is amazing not just for the LGB, but also the T. Shop there for the rest of your life.

Target has had its share of problems, but their willingness to hire LGBT folks has always impressed me. I live in an area with a large LGBT community - all four of the letters well-represented. And the staff at my local Target reflects that. It’s so nice and sadly unexpected to see large companies stepping up like that.

It’s interesting though, because at one point in time, didn’t Target have a really bad record of lobbying for anti-gay rights and going as far as to sue and pit lawsuits against gay rights? Oh, and the anti-gay donations they never apologized for? Or was that just me…The new ads are shocking, but not too long ago they were huge anti-LGBT bigots like everyone else.

And let’s not forget the music of the MUSICAL PROTEST INSIDE OF A TARGET STORE FOR THEIR DISREGARD FOR LGBT RIGHTS.
